The main tasks ①The students will understand and sum up the main contents of the reading passage. ②The students will describe the different attitudes of Wang Kun and Wang Wei. ③The students will be aware of the steps to realize a travel dream. ④The students will understand the qualities on the road to realizing a dream. ⑤he students will talk about their dreams and plans of life. 2. Language Focus ①The students will be able to understand and pronounce the following words in the situations: Teaching persuade /graduate /organize /determined /stubborn /altitude Aims ②The students will be able to use the following sentences and patterns : ever since/be fond of/care about /change one’s mind /make up one’s mind /give in 3. Language Skill The students will be able to find the key information under the teacher’s guidance. 4. Affection The students will be able to focus their attention on the classroom instruction and performance. 5. Culture The students will be able to understand the geographical features of the Mekong. Teaching teaching activities, especially learn to set up a dream, plan and make preparations Difficulties through the text analysis. 1. Help the students to get a better understanding of the text through various 2. How to help the students understand some difficult words and expressions. Procedures & Activities Ⅰ. Lead-in 1.Supplement the title and know the main characters of the article. 2. Give a brief introduction to the Mekong by showing a map and some pictures. Ⅱ. Understanding of the passage Section one: The dream 1. The content of their dream. 2. The time when they had a dream to take a great bike trip and when they got the chance to realize it. 3. The road to realizing the dream. Section two: The plan Task 1 The basic situation about the plan (the form from PPT has already been omitted here) Task 2 Mental preparations ●The difficulties Find the key information about the difficulties and finish the form. ●The attitudes 1. Get Wang Wei’s reactions to the difficulties told by Wang Kun. 2. Analyze Wang Wei’s attitude to the trip. 3. Make clear Wang Kun’s comments on Wang Wei. 4. Share Students’ comments on Wang Wei. 5. Point out the importance of mental preparations. Task 3 Geographical preparations 1. Know the purpose of going to the library ( find a large atlas showing world geography). 2.
