Charity workers now provide residents of a poor village in eastern India with what they say is the world’s cheapest bottle of drinking water. It costs less than one US cent.

The water plant, which started operating several months ago, can produce 8000 litres of water per day. Water in 20-litre bottles is now delivered to houses, shops and markets in the area. Now more than 10000 people are benefiting from the project. The residents there have suffered form sin and other diseases caused by drinking polluted ground water for many years. Now they finally don’t have to worry about water safety. India has a long history of poor water supplies. Pollution leads to many serious water safety problems there. The new plant, which treats water that is collected in a deep, man-made pond at the village, has been developed by tow companies. Drinking water has become a problem for many places around the world. Let’s just hope the two companies will be able to help more people who need clean water.
