摘要：The invention relates to a method for the in-line replacement of cylinders in arolling mill, consisting in: moving a carriage close to a cage; actuating displacement meanswith which the carriage is equipped such as to extract the used chock-fitted cylinders inorder to position same on a replacement chassis of the carriage; moving the carriageaway from the cage; moving a shuttle device, which is provided with a first emptyexchange chassis and a second exchange chassis bearing new chockless cylinders, to afirst position in which the first exchange chassis is aligned with the replacement chassis ofthe carriage; actuating the displacement means of the carriage in order to transfer theused chock-fitted cylinders of the replacement chassis to the first exchange chassis;aligning the first exchange chassis of the shuttle device with a chock extraction device inorder to detach the chocks from the used cylinders; aligning the two exchange chassis ofthe shuttle device with the chock extraction device in order to couple the chocks to thenew cylinders positioned in the second exchange chassis; moving the shuttle device to asecond position in which the second exchange chassis is aligned with the replacementchassis of the carriage; actuating the displacement means of the carriage in order to slide

the new fitted cylinders from the second exchange chassis to the replacement chassis;moving the carriage forward; and actuating the cylinder displacement means in order toinsert new fitted cylinders from the replacement chassis in the associated cage.
