Consumer Socialization
Consumer socialization is the process by which young people develop consumer related skills, knowledge and attitudes. This field of study has increasingly interested policy makers, marketers, consumer educator and students of socialization.
George Moschis and Gilbert A. Churchill, Jr posit that mass media, parents, school and peers are all agents of consumer socialization. According to this theory children and young adults learn the rational aspects of consumption from their parents while the mass media teaches them to give social meaning to products; schools teach the importance of economic wisdom and finally peers exercise varying social pressures.
Research in this field is primarily based on two models of human learning: the cognitive development model, which stem primarily from the works of Jean Piaget, and the social learning model, which is based primarily on neo-Hullian, neo-Skinerian and social learning theory.
This aspect of child socialization started receiving academic attention in early 1970s. Systematic academic research in this area was triggerred by charges of various consumer advocacy groups which were concerned with the effects of marketing, especially TV advertising on children.
Elite Education
First thing first, elite education equals to better distribution of education resources, which, sooner or later, will be bound to do good to our national educational development. China now faces exasperating population explosion that is going to reach its peak a couple of years later. With such a gigantic number of students across the country, it is, indeed, exceedingly hard to allocate fine educational resources with a same amount to every one. And even if that does happen, it’s no good practicing that mode, for students differ in their capacity and interest of learning, not to mention the heavy pressure such practice would add to the central government. Therefore, it’s better to allot the educational resources in line with the condition of different students. Only in this way can ideal fruition be obtained.
Secondly, as above-mentioned, students vary in their abilities to study. Some well talented students do learn faster than their peers, and some other students do excel over the rest in some field. Should we mix those intelligent students with others, not only will their talents become stifled, but their extraordinary performances in class will surely impose pressure upon their classmates who may not be so lucky to enjoy such innate gifts. In addition, those intelligent students would in turn serve as terrific exemplary for the rest, thus encouraging them to work hard.
Cosmetic Surgery
Nowadays, plastic surgery is no longer a social taboo, and it is not rare or astonishing to hear people around us have operations on their faces or bodies.
Despite its high costs, possible risks, and short-term side efforts, plastic surgery is a great thing in many cases and its benefits can be both physical and emotional, both external and internal.
One of the advantages of plastic surgery is the ability to correct physical defects. These patients may have physical defects that have resulted from an accident or a bad case of acne as a teenager. Some people are born with physical defects that have plagued them since birth and cosmetic surgery can finally give them a shot at a normal life.
Secondly, cosmetic surgery can be exactly what you need to enhance your self image. Though people always say that virtue is more important than appearance, we have to admit that it is important to be found attractive, especially for a woman. Besides, beauty affects self—esteem. Having a positive self image can give you the self confidence that you need to get a better job, try new things and it will give you a general overall feeling of well being.
